9 September Annual General Meeting

The Thirsk and Malton Green Party will hold its Annual General Meeting at 7:30 pm on Wednesday 9 September 2020. This will be an online meeting. No form of meeting is ideal at present, but it is felt that an online meeting is the safest and most practical choice, and it is hoped that it will be accessible to as many members as possible.

You can join the meeting at https://bluejeans.com/256469137 using any of the main browsers on a PC or laptop, or using the BlueJeans app on a smartphone or tablet. To try out the meeting system, go to https://bluejeans.com/111 where you can chat with an animated parrot!

If you are unable to use any of those options, then you can still join in using any ordinary telephone by calling 0203 695 0613. When asked for an ID, key in the code 256469137 followed by #. You will then be connected to the meeting.

If you need advice on joining this online meeting, please call Martin Brampton on 01653 696210.

Ryedale Climate Action Group

The first meeting of this new group will take place at 7 pm on Thursday 12 March. It will be held at the Worsley Arms Hotel in Hovingham, in the Kent Room on the first floor.

The purpose of the meeting is:

  • for you to share what’s important to you in enabling this region to become carbon net zero;
  • to identify the strategic priorities for Ryedale.

Simon Bowens from Friends of the Earth (FoE) will be joining us to facilitate the session. The number of Climate Action Groups supported by FoE across the UK is now up to 180.  If there is anyone else you know that would like to join this group, please share this link which gives a few more details and a map showing the Worsley Arms. All are welcome.

March 2020 meeting – Thirsk

The Thirsk & Malton Green Party meeting will be at 7.30 pm on Friday 13 March. It will be attended by Arnold Warnekin who was recently elected Regional Support and Development Officer. He’s offering help and support. Please come if you can. Let Josie know if you need a lift – we’ll do our best to arrange something. The venue is the Three Tuns in Thirsk, and we will try to find a good spot to gather, probably in one of the alcoves that are down a few steps. We’re aware that some people are not enthusiastic about patronising a Wetherspoons pub, but no suitable alternative has been found in Thirsk.

February 2020 meeting – Kirkbymoorside

The February meeting will be held at lunch time in Kirkbymoorside. We hope to welcome members and guests from the town and around. It will start at 12:30 pm on Thursday 13 February 2020 and will be in the King’s Head hotel. There is a room to the left of the entrance, where the meeting will be held. As usual, meetings are open to all. This will be primarily a social meeting, although politics may be discussed too!

We’re not paying for the room at the pub, but it’s expected that we’ll all buy a drink of some sort from the bar (needn’t be alcoholic and coffee is available). The normal lunchtime food will be available.

If you want to share transport or have other issues with getting to the meeting, please contact Josie.
